Behaviors and Emotions

“If we are to reach real peace in the world, we shall have to begin with children.  And if they will grow up in their natural innocence, we won’t have to struggle, we won’t have to pass fruitless resolutions, but we shall go from love to love and peace to peace.” – Gandhi

In reading on bullying and working with children to stop this I came across this quote which just kept resurfacing for me. Teaching acceptance is so important and one is never too old or too young to learn this. We all need to be aware that our actions do have consequences – positive or negative. I believe that the younger we start to develop acceptance, compassion, empathy, etc. the better. As teachers and parents, I feel that a major part of our job is helping our children to grow into productive adults, good citizens of the world and loving individuals.
