COUNTRY FUN

an early education learning space ~ where play equals learning

Make It Monday

We had a fun morning making some play equipment. I use to have a doorway for a puppet theater, but with the remodel that disappeared and the small cardboard box one doesn’t work really well with the younger children, so I went in search of puppet theater ideas. I found this really neat one on She Wears Flowers made from pvc pieces. Well, this past weekend I got the pipe lengths and today we made our puppet theater.

I did the marking and cutting, but the children helped me count out the numbers, check and compare lengths and then put the pieces together.

Then we got to check out a sewing machine when I brought in my small portable machine to quickly sew up the curtains. You could make them no sew with liquid stitches, hemming tape, or velcro.

Then it was time for outside play, lunch,  get some eggs  (like a changing of the guard – time for some new preschoolers to get to go to meet Julie for the eggs) and rest time. During rest time I managed to get the lite box started. The weather was good enough to get the storage box sprayed with plastic paint. Even found I could do a thin coat for the frosting that’s suggested being needed for the lid.

Cannot wait to have the children help me complete this project and then start exploring with it. Fun ahead!
